16 more samples of persons who showed symptoms of Nipah infection in Kozhikode have tested negative. All 46 samples tested so far have shown negative results.
State Health Minister Veena George told media persons on Wednesday that samples taken by the Animal Husbandry Department have been sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune. House to house surveys have been completed covering 4995 households in the region.
The minister said, barring Nipah containment zones, Covid vaccination drive which remained suspended in Kozhikode taluk after Nipah virus was reported, will resume today.
