Bengaluru: Nine more people tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, as per the latest state health department’s report.
This takes the total number of COVID-19 positive people in the state to 512. This includes 19 deaths while 193 people have been cured and discharged.
A 13-year-old male from Bengaluru Urban region tested positive for the contagious virus. He had a history of Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and is now being treated at a designated hospital in the city.
In Nagamangala, Mandya, a 50-year-old man with a travel history to Mumbai has come out to be positive.
A 45-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman, both contacts of an earlier patient (P-432) have also contracted the virus in Dakshina Kannada.
On the other hand, a 32-year-old and a 21-year-old, both females, have been infected with the virus in Jamkhandi, Bagalkote. Contact tracing revealed that both were contacts tracing revealed that both were contacts of patient number 456 in the state.
Two men — aged 45 and 27, came out to be positive in Vijayapura. While the former has been found out as a contact of patient number 221, contact tracing for the latter is still underway.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a 50-year-old auto driver, who had tested positive and was undergoing treatment, committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the hospital building in the Victoria hospital campus.
Also, just when the city appeared to be flattening the COVID-19 curve, at least 42 people have tested positive for the virus in just three days between April 23 and 25, pushing the authorities to the limit.
