Karnataka Deputy CM D.K Shivakumar Urges Tamil Nadu To Cooperate In Implementing Mekedatu Project

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, D.K Shivakumar has urged Tamil Nadu to cooperate in implementing the Mekedatu project that will fetch drinking water to Bengaluru. Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a legislative session in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Shivakumar said that the project is beneficial to Tamil Nadu also as they will get water from the balancing reservoir proposed to be built in Mekedatu. He informed that the state is releasing 20,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu as per Cauvery Water Regulation Committee order. He informed that due to copious rainfall in the catchment areas, the inflow into the reservoirs has increased.
