As the cricket World Cup fever subsides, another one has begun to enthral cricket lovers.
The Fourth Edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League, set to roll soon, is getting
tremendous response from top cricketers and an opportunity for young players to showcase their cricketing skills.
I dream’s Karaikudi Kaalai is hoping to clinch this edition. India’s star cricketer from Chennai Dinesh Karthick is the skipper of the team that includes Anirudha Srikanth,Yo Mahesh V, Kavin R, Surya Prakash L, Lakshman V, Aaditya V, Kishan Kumar S, Maan K Bafna, Ashwath Mukunthan, Swaminathan S, Ajith Kumar T, Ganesh S, Srinivasan R,Rajkumar R,Mohan Prasath S,Shajahan M, Karuppuswamy A, Sunil Sam and Ashwin Kumar RD, Abhinav Vishnu and Aswin Balaji. The 22 -member team will take on seven teams on the field.
Karaikudi Kalai has PC Prakash as it’s the coach and he has been travelling with the team through the last three editions. His understanding of the team is seen as a key advantage.
His knowledge of pitch conditions and mood of the competing players is expected to help KK sweep the championship.
The team’s owners – Murthy and Rishikesh Sriram Murthy have been steadily backing the team to achieve its goal.
The championship begins on July 19 and the final will be played out on August 18.
TNPL will open with Dindigul Dragons v Chepauk Super Gillies at the Dindigul NPR College grounds.
There are 32 matches to be played in the first leg and the teams will face each once.
The matches will be played at Dindugal NPR College ground, Tirunelveli ICL Sankar Nagar ground and at Chennai’s M A Chidambaram stadium.
In the last three seasons – Tuticorin Patriots won the first title, Chepauk Super Gillies got the second season title and Madurai Panthers grabbed the championship in the last season.
KK will take on Trichy Warriors on July 20, the second match will be played against Kanchi Veerans on July 24 and KK vs Chepauk Super Gillies on July 26 the rest of the against Dindigul Dragons, Tuticorin Patriots, Lica Kovai and Madurai Panthers.
