In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces killed two terrorists in separate encounters. Security forces eliminated a terrorist in a brief encounter at Sail village in Pulwama district. Police sources told AIR that on a specific information a cordon and search operation was launched in the village.
The terrorist, who was a local youth and had joined militant rank recently, was earlier persuaded to surrender but he resorted to firing resulting in a brief encounter in which he was eliminated. The other terrorist, a resident of Anantnag district, was killed in the Awantipora area of south Kashmir.
According to Police, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Churswoo village of Awantipora in the early hours today following an information about the presence of the terrorist there.
The slain terrorist has been identified as Shahid, a resident of Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. He was asked to surrender by the security forces but he chose to engage them in a gun-battle and was killed after a brief exchange of fire. Arms and Ammunitions were also recovered from the encounter site.
