IT Minister RS Prasad clarifies govt does not want all WhatsApp messages to be decrypted

Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday clarified that the government does not want all WhatsApp messages to be decrypted. He said, all ordinary users of WhatsApp can continue to use it. Mr Prasad, however, clarified that if any content goes viral, causing mob lynching, riots, killing, showing women in nudity, sexual exploitation of children, only in these limited circumstances, it will be asked to declare who started the mischief. The Minister also said, if viral messages are causing mayhem in the country which originated from across border then who started it, should be known, in public interest.
