The Indian School celebrated Annual Book Week at its campus in Isa Town. The Book Week for the year 2018-2019 was organized by the Department of Library and Information Science. As part of the Book Week celebrations from January 6-10, 2019, a Book Fair was also organized in the Shaikh Isa Library. Principal VR Palaniswamy inaugurated the Book Fair in the presence of Staff Representative Johnson K Devassy, Vice Principals, Head Teachers, staff and students. Major book shops like Book Mart, Barnes&Noble, Majestic Book shops and City bookshop took part in the Fair.
The Book Week celebrations also included competitions like short story writing in English, cover page design, paragraph writing, book review and book mark to enrich the students’ talents in creative writing and design.
This Book Fair gave students an exposure to all the new arrivals. It also provided an opportunity for students to buy, read and enjoy children’s books. Reading is one of the most fundamental skills a child needs to learn to succeed in life. Developing good reading habits is vital to a child’s future not just academically, but in everyday life as well. The Indian School organises Book Week celebrations to inculcate excellent reading habits in children.
