Ahead of the coming assembly elections, the Tamil Nadu government presented an interim budget for the year 2021-22 in the state assembly on the opening day of the budget session today. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister O Panneerselvam presented the interim budget amid walk out by the members of the opposition DMK and its allies, the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League.
The opposition members later told reporters that they were dissatisfied with the functioning of the state government. The Business Advisory Committee will decide the duration of the budget session in its meeting this afternoon.
