Raksha Mantri held extensive talks with his Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya. RM chaired the Annual Defence Ministerial Dialogue with his counterpart, Takeshi Iwaya, Minister of Defence of Japan.
The Ministerial Dialogue aims to further strengthen India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and include wide ranging discussions to enhance the bilateral defence and security engagements between the two countries.
Earlier, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at the Self Defence Force Memorial in Tokyo.
Later, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh was given a ceremonial guard of honour.
RM will also call on Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
In the second leg of his tour, Raksha Mantri will visit South Korea on September 5. He will have a bilateral dialogue with Minister of National Defence Jeong Kyeong Doo. He will also call on South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak – Yon.
A CEO’s Forum followed by a Business-to-Government meeting will also be held in Seoul with the participation of members of the Defence Industry from both sides with the aim to encourage India – South Korea Defence Industry co-operation.
