India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 60 lakh; death toll rises to 95,542

India’s COVID-19 caseload crossed 60 lakh with 82,170 fresh infections being reported on Monday. As per the union health ministry of family and welfare, 1,039 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the fatalities count to 95,542.

The total coronavirus cases mounted to 60,74,702, as per data updated by health ministry today morning. The country has 2 9,62,640 active COVID-19 cases and 50,16,520 people have recovered so far.

As per AFP, over 10 lakh people have succumbed to the coronavirus disease worldwide. The United States of America alone has reported over 200,000 fatalities followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and Britain.

Maharashtra continues to record the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country. The state on September 27 reported 18,056 new cases, which pushed the overall tally to 13,39,232.

As per the later health ministry press release, 76 per cent of the new recovered cases are found in 10 states/UTs. Maharashtra continues to top this list. It has alone contributed more than 23,000 followed by Andhra Pradesh with more than 9,000 cases.
