Indian Railways discusses how challenges have been overcome for transporting oxygen

Indian Railways is working to ensure that it is in the forefront of offering its services to the country. Chairman and CEO, Railway Board Suneet Sharma on Friday discussed the steps being undertaken by railways during COVID times.

He discussed how challenges have been overcome for transporting oxygen. For instance, types of tankers and wagons were selected, routes were mapped keeping in mind that oxygen is cryogenic and sudden acceleration and deceleration had to be avoided. Over three thousand 800 COVID coaches are available.

These have been kept ready, clean and all facilities have been provided. These coaches are being placed where there is a demand. A large number of trains are running.

He assured railway will run all the services that are required for movement of passengers from any part of the country.

He said that railways is keeping a close watch on the waiting list and as and when there is any demand that they anticipate, they are running special trains. He also assured that Railways will leave no stone unturned to ensure the growth of the economy.
