The Indian Olympic Association today announced cash awards to the coaches of the medal winning athletes of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The coaches who trained and accompanied the athlete to Tokyo will receive Rs.12.5 lakhs for Gold Rs.10.00 for Silver and Rs.7.5 lakhs for Bronze medal.
Earlier IOA had announced cash awards to the Medal winners of Tokyo 2020 and to the concerned sports Federations.
On the very first day of Tokyo 2020 Mirabhai Chanu won Silver medal in 49 kg women’s weightlifting. As announced by IOA she will receive Rs.50 lakhs cash awards from IOA.
The Secretary-General IOA said, the contribution of the coaches for winning an Olympic medal by an athlete cannot be ignored.
They definitely deserve appreciation and support so IOA decided to acknowledge their contribution suitably hence announced cash awards for them.
