Indian Navy marching contingent arrives in France to participate in Bastille Day Parade

The Indian Navy marching contingent arrived in France to participate in the Bastille Day Parade on the 14th of this month. The marching contingent comprises four officers and 64 sailors which will be led by Commander Vrat Baghel.

Indian Navy will be represented by INS Chennai, an indigenously built frontline destroyer. Indian Navy is amongst the largest Navies in the world with a potent mix of ships, submarines, and aircraft.

A flying contingent of four Rafale fighters, two C-17 Globemasters, and 72 IAF personnel also departed for France today to participate in the Parade. The flypast and marching by the IAF air warriors on Bastille Day follow a long association that the two nations share, especially in the field of air power. The IAF marching contingent is commanded by Squadron Leader Sindhu Reddy, who is an accomplished helicopter pilot.

India and France are celebrating 25 years of Strategic Partnership this year. Over the years, India and France have become reliable defence partners. The two countries enjoy deep ties in the maritime domain which extend to their navies as well.
