Indian Air Force has intensified its efforts to distribute oxygen across the country. The air force is airlifting oxygen containers, essential medicines and other medical equipment in the fight against fresh surge in COVID-19 cases. The Indian Air Force transport aircraft and helicopters have been pressed into service for carrying out these tasks.
C-17 and IL-76 aircraft of Indian Air Force have started airlifting big oxygen tankers from their places of use to the filing stations. This move will help in easing the supply of oxygen amid the growing demands.
Defence Ministry said, in the initial days of COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the Indian Air Force ran several sorties to deliver medicines, medical and other essential supplies required to combat the coronavirus pandemic as well as brought back stranded Indian nationals from abroad.
