South Africa were reeling at 9 for 2 in their first innings against India when bad light forced early stumps on the second day of the third and final Cricket Test in Ranchi. Poor visibility meant the Indian players walked back to the dressing room barely five overs into the South African first innings after the tea break.
India declared their first innings at 497 for nine after Rohit Sharma struck his maiden double century in Tests and Ajinkya Rahane his first hundred at home in three years. Rohit scored 212 runs from 255 deliveries before losing his wicket to Kagiso Rabada.
