India observes partition Horrors Remembrance Day today

India is observing partition Horrors Remembrance Day today in the memory of the struggles and sacrifices during the partition in 1947. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared the August 14, will be remembered as ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas’ or Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in memory of those who lost their lives during Partition. Mr Modi had said that millions of people were displaced and many lost their lives due to mindless hate and violence caused by the partition. Prime Minister said this day will keep reminding us the need to remove the poison of social divisions, disharmony and further strengthen the spirit of oneness, social harmony and human empowerment.
