Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar while paying tributes to heroes of the emergency, Jai Prakash Narayan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Morarjee Desai and other leaders said, the crisis which Congress brought on the democracy of our country was defeated by the people on 20th March 1977 by defeating Congress and electing Janta Party.
In a tweet, Mr Javadekar said, it was only once in independent India that elections did not take place after 5 years and they were postponed. It was done by the Congress during Emergency.
