The Hubballi-Nizamuddin train will provide direct access to the national capital. The Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnav flagged off the Hubballi-Nizamuddin Express weekly train on 11th October 2022.
The route of the new train:
The demand for a direct train to Delhi had increased after the Indian Railways had halted the Goa Link Express due to the pandemic. Due to an increase in rail passengers, the railway board has decided to operate more trains. People were waiting eagerly for the Hubballi-Nizamuddin train because of its direct access to the national capital. The train has its stop at Kopargaon, Maharashtra which is close to the Shirdi Sai Baba’s temple. The stops also include Belagavi in Karnataka, Pune and Ahmadnagar in Maharashtra, Itarsi and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, and Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
In the past, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has said that efforts will be made to increase the frequency of the train. The task is taking time because the Nizamuddin railway station is one of the crowded stations and scheduling daily trains becomes difficult.
Cultural touch at the Dharwad station:
The Railways Minister also dedicated the new railway building renovated at an estimated cost of Rs 19.5 crore at Dharwad, Karnataka. Hubbali-Dharwad are the twin cities in Karnataka, separated by a distance of 20km. The new railway building is said to be a blend of modern architecture and the local culture.
The building architecture is based on Biophilic architecture. Biophilic design is a type of architecture by which buildings are made in a way to be more connected to nature. There is a vertical garden at the entry of the station premises. In the concourse, there are high-rise columns which provide natural light to the building.
Also, the mural wall paintings inside the booking offices present a window to the local art forms.
