Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired a meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to review the implementation of new criminal laws in the state.
The three new criminal laws are Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
The implementation and current status of various new provisions related to police, prisons, courts, prosecution and forensics in Maharashtra is being reviewed in the meeting. Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla and other senior officials are attending the meeting.
The new criminal laws, which were implemented nationwide on 1st July last year, aim to make India’s legal system more transparent, efficient, and adaptable to the needs of contemporary society.
