Monsoon has been active in many parts of Himachal Pradesh since the last few days and many areas have received heavy rainfall, with cloudbursts being reported from many places. So far, one hundred and seventeen people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents.
Himachal Pradesh has received unprecedented monsoon rains this year, which has broken all the previous records. More than normal rainfall has been recorded in 8 districts of the state. So far, one hundred and seventeen people have lost their lives, one hundred and twenty-one people have been injured while twelve are missing in the incidents of heavy rains, landslides and floods in the state. Along with this, a loss of property worth more than Rs.4 thousand crores has been estimated. Even today, rain is continuing in many places of the state. Meanwhile, due to a cloudburst in Rohru area of Shimla district last night, huge damage has been caused to private and government property. Most of the rivers and drains of the state are in spate and the administration has appealed to the people to take necessary precautions. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains in many parts of the state for today and tomorrow.
