Heavy rain in Nepal claims 67 lives in 5 days

In Nepal, heavy rain in various parts of the country has claimed 67 lives in the last five days. 

Thirty persons are still missing and forty-three injured due to floods and landslides triggered by incessant rain. 

Heavy downpour since Thursday has affected normal life in 28 districts, mostly in Tarai region. 

Hundreds of houses have been damaged and thousands of people displaced. Transportation, electricity and water supply was also disrupted due to floods and landslides in many parts of the country.

Relief and rescue operation is underway. Nepal Police and Army have rescued over 1,400 people so far. The water level in all major rivers is likely to remain near caution mark. 

People living on the banks of rivers are advised to be on . 

Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast rain at many places. There are also chances of heavy rainfall at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.

The government has directed concerned authorities to immediately resume all essential services.
