Gujrat: Coastal Districts Of Saurashtra Witness Heavy Rainfall For Second Consecutive Day Leading To Flood Situation

In Gujarat, the coastal districts of Saurashtra continue to witness heavy rainfall for the past two days leading to flood-like situation in low lying areas. Our correspondent reports that Dev Bhoomi Dwaraka and Porbandar were worst affected districts, recording more than 20 inches of rainfall in last 36 hours. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in nine districts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat region for the next two days.

Akashvani correspondent reports that heavy rains disrupted normal life in Porbandar and Devbhumi Dwarka districts leaving several areas underwater. Nearly 57 villages have been affected by the floods in the state. State relief commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey said, 10 teams each of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in flood affected districts. He said 45 people stranded in flood water were rescued while around 400 people
