Gujarat: Ruling BJP leading in elections held for 6 Municipal Corporations

In Gujarat, counting of votes for six municipal corporations including Ahmedabad is underway. According to the latest figures, the ruling BJP has won 72 seats while Congress got 9 seats of the total 575 seats of six municipal corporations. Bahujan Samaj Party has also opened an account with 3 seats.

Our correspondent reports BJP won 16 seats in Ahmedabad, 17 in Vadodara,15 in Rajkot, 11 each in Bhavnagar and Jamnagar while 4 in Surat Municipal Corporation. On the other hand, the opposition Congress has got 7 seats in Vadodara while one each in Bhavnagar and Jamnagar.

The polling was conducted on 21st February for the six municipal corporations including Surat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Rajkot.
