GST Council to meet in Delhi today

GST collections remain subdued at ₹ 95,380 crore in October

The GST Council will meet in New Delhi today. The meeting is likely to review the taxation structure for enhancing the revenue collections. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will chair the meeting.

GST revenue collection witnessed an impressive recovery with a positive growth of six percent last month as compared to the collections of the same month last year.

 The gross GST revenue collected in November is one lakh three thousand 492 crore rupees.

Ahead of the meeting, Centre had released the GST compensation of 35 thousand 298 crore rupees to States and Union Territories.

Mrs Sitharaman has said that each state and the centre’s revenue department will have to take a lot of efforts to improve GST collection.
