The government today said that Paddy procurement for Kharif Marketing Season 2020-21 is going on smoothly in the procuring States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in a statement said that so far over 84.46 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy have been procured from 7.38 lakh farmers.
The Ministry said, based on the proposal from the States, approval was accorded for procurement of 41.67 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Pulse and Oilseeds of Kharif Marketing Season 2020 for the States of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh under Price Support Scheme (PSS). It said, sanction for procurement of 1.23 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Copra was also given for the State of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The Ministry said, the Government, so far through its Nodal Agencies has procured over 723 Metric Tonnes of Moong and Urad having MSP value of Rs 5.21 crores benefitting 681 farmers in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Haryana.
