The government on Friday said that it does not provide any direct monetary subsidy to individual pilgrims of Mansarovar Yatra. Replying to the question of Haji Fazlur Rehman, the Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs V. Murlidharan said that the Ministry of External Affairs organises the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra every year between June and September, through the two official routes in cooperation with the state governments of Delhi, Uttarakhand and Sikkim and also the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The Ministry of External Affairs provides assistance, on self-financing basis, to the Yatris Undertaking the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra by providing facilities like Transportation, accommodation, food, medical tests, guides etc. The Ministry of External Affairs also coordinates with the Government of Peoples’ Republic of China as well as various Indian agencies for the smooth conduct of this Yatra. A provision for air-lift of pilgrims by helicopter is also made on the Indian side in case of a medical emergency. The Kailash Manasarovar Yatra did not take place in 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the consequent international travel restrictions.
