Government to develop Eklavya Model Residential Schools

Government has decided to develop Eklavya Model Residential Schools meant for scheduled tribes at par with Navodya Vidyalaya.  Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said the initiative is part of the 100 days target of the Ministry towards the welfare of scheduled tribes.

He was addressing the gathering after launching Direct Benefit Transfer- DBT Scholarship portal and NGO Grants Portal at a function in New Delhi.

Mr Munda appealed to the officers working in the state-tribal ministries and Centre to dedicate themselves to work for the welfare of the scheduled tribes.

Under the DBT portal, the monetary assistance will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The scholarships include pre-metric, post metric and national scholarships for top classes.

Under it, funds released for scholarships and the numbers of beneficiaries can be tracked. The portal will also help redress the grievances related to the release of the funds. NGOs can register themselves on the portal for grant of funds.
