Gold Smuggling Case: Faisal Fareed arrested by Dubai police

Dubai: Faisal Fareed, the third accused in the Thiruvananthapuram diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case, has been arrested by the Dubai police.

It is reported that Dubai police will try to extract as much information from him as possible before repatriating him to India. Faisal Fareed’s passport was revoked by India a few days ago in connection with this case.

It is reported that he may be repatriated to India on Monday.

UAE had issued a travel ban against Faisal Fareed after India expressed its concern about him escaping to America or Europe. UAE had maintained its position from the beginning that it would take action against all the culprits in the case.

Dubai police does not think that he was alone in committing the crime. By arresting him, they hope to get to all his accomplices who helped him smuggle the gold to India.

UAE has officially communicated the news regarding Faisal Fareed’s arrest to India.
