Former CJI was perceived to be influenced by external forces

The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a demand of investigation into retired SC Judge Justice Kurian Joseph’s media interview.

Lawyer Shashank Singh Deo in his plea alleged that Kurian Joseph said former CJI Dipak Misra was perceived to be influenced by external forces. Justice Kurian Joseph, one of the four Supreme Court judges who held an unprecedented press conference in January, on December 3 made a sensational claim that the previous CJI Dipak Misra was working under some influence of an “external source”, adding this impacted the administration of justice.

Retired Justice Joseph who retired on November 29 in an interview to PTI said,” The then CJI (Dipak Misra) was working under some influence of some external source. He was remote-controlled by an external source. There was some influence of some external source that was impacting the administration of justice.” Justice Joseph said the decision to hold the press conference was taken after being sure that the then CJI was “under an external influence”.
