Foodgrains rot in Thiruvananthapuram warehouse

Thiruvananthapuram: Foodgrains including rice and wheat have been rotting inside the warehouse in Puthukulangara here. 30 loads of foodgrains that was stocked before the lockdown were damaged. Mathrubhumi News obtained the visuals of this..

Wheat, rice and parboiled rice are stored here. A labourer belonging to CITU revealed to Mathrubhumi News that 4 loads of rotten grains were transport here from outside before the warehouse was shut, resulting in the entire stock being damaged.

He also revealed that officials have instructed not to stock new wheat loads here.

Neighbours have complained of foul smell emanating from the warehouse.
