FM Sitharaman holds 8th pre-Budget consultation meeting with leading economists

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today held 8th Pre-Budget Consultation Meeting with the leading Economists in New Delhi today in connection with the forthcoming General Budget 2020-21.

The main areas of the discussions included steps needed to achieve five trillion dollar economy, job-oriented growth, transparency of fiscal arithmetic, Government’s fiscal prudence and inflation targeting among others.

Finance Ministry in a statement said, the Economists were optimistic about India’s growth story and put forward ways through which country can achieve the goal of five-trillion economy. Among the key suggestions were to attract more investment to support growth, streamlining policy matters and faster resolution of policy issues in all sectors.

Finance Secretary, Rajeev Kumar and  Economic Affairs Secretary Atanu Chakraborty among those attended the meeting.
