In Assam, the flood situation remains to be critical and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited flood-affected areas in Kamrup district and assured to help all the affected people.
The Chief Minister also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured all support from the Centre in relief and rehabilitation works in the state.
About 19 lakh people affected by this flood in 2,930 villages under 96 revenue circles and over one lakh people are taking shelters in 373 Relief Camps. During the last 24 hours, nine people lost their lives and landslide incidents were also reported under Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Morigaon, Kamrup and Kamrup Metropolitan districts during this period.
The water level of Beki, Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, Jia Bharali, Kopili and Brahmaputra rivers are flowing above the danger level mark in many places of the state. The flood waters have submerged 43,338.39 hectares of cropland in the flood-hit districts.
