Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will travel to the Indian Ocean countries Maldives and Mauritius from 20 to 23 February. He will live in the Maldives on 20 and 21 February and in Mauritius on 22 and 23 February.
According to a release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Dr. Jaishankar will call on the President of Ibrahim Mohammed Solih in Maldives. He will discuss bilateral relations and cooperation with the Foreign Minister, Defense Minister, Finance Minister etc. of the host country.
He will also review India’s ongoing development projects with the help of India, and help India in relation to the corona epidemic and cooperation in economic recovery after the epidemic.
The External Affairs Minister will meet President Prithviraj Singh Rupun and Prime Minister Pravind Jagannath during his visit to Mauritius. He will discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, infrastructure including various joint development projects, as well as regional and world affairs from host Foreign Minister Alan Gunu.
Maldives and Mauritius are close allies of India in the Indian Ocean region. These countries have a prominent place in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Sagar” policy introduced for security and prosperity in this maritime region.
