Equipped With Modern Technology, Lucknow Gets First Four-Lane Flyover

With an aim to ease the travel and commute of over 1 lakh people, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh along with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Lucknow’s first four-lane flyover built on a single pillar using modern technology.

“We made three world records this month. India now holds the world record for the fastest road construction. We made it to the Guinness World Records by building a 2.5 km 4-lane concrete road within 24 hours and a 1-lane 25-km bitumen Solapur-Bijapur road within 24 hours,” Mr. Gadkari said while inaugurating the Tedhi Pulia flyover and laying the foundation stone for the Khuram Nagar flyover in Lucknow.

Meanwhile, the ministry of road, transport and highways (MoRTH) in a statement on Thursday informed that the construction of National Highways had touched a record 37 kilometres per day in the year 2020-21.

Speaking on the occasion, Defence Minister and Lucknow’s MP said, “The daily traffic on this route was found to be up to 42,000 and is continuously increasing. In June 2019, the work started and even during the pandemic, the assigned task was completed. The importance of the flyover is that it is built on a single pillar using modern technology.”

Facelift for Lucknow with new flyover

Lucknow’s new four-laned flyover at Tedhiphulia is an outstanding engineering marvel of modern technology, suspended on a single pillar and stretches for about 1.8-kilometres.

Constructed by Public Works Department, the spines and wings for the top deck of the flyover have been installed on about 3.5-metre wide single pillars. About 75 pillars have been used for structuring the flyover as compared to 150 pillars required in the traditional technique.

As per estimates, the flyover will provide ease of travel and commute to over 1 lakh people, directly benefitting the residents of Aliganj, Khurram Nagar, Jankipuram and other areas in Lucknow

Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway by 2022

“We are going to build Kanpur to Lucknow Expressway and it will be completed before 2022 ends. The distance of both cities will be covered only in half an hour,” Mr. Gadkari said. He also added that in this way we are constructing 22 expressway highways in the country. Similarly, we are constructing an one lakh crore rupees highway between Delhi and Mumbai, 50 percent of which has been completed and the remaining work will be completed in a year. After this, the distance from Delhi to Mumbai will be completed in just 12 hours.
