ED to file charge sheet against Sivasankar soon; move intended to block default bail

Kochi: The Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet against M Sivasankar in the gold smuggling case. The charge sheet has been filed quickly in order to deny Sivasankar bail.

Sivasankar was arrested on October 28. He will be eligible for default bail after 60 days. ED is trying to make sure that this is denied. It is also reported that another charge sheet connected to the case will be filed before December 24.

ED has filed a plea at Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court to interrogate Swapna Suresh and Sarith in the gold smuggling case. The court might approve this plea on Monday.

ED plans to interrogate Swapna and Sarith as soon as the court grants permission. The details from this interrogation will also be included in the charge sheet against Sivasankar. ED believes that they can extract more details from the accused as they have already made several revelations to the customs department.

ED had filed the initial charge sheet against Swapna Suresh and Sarith earlier. The second charge sheet against Sivasankar will be linked to this. ED will also inform the court that they will continue the investigation in the gold smuggling case.
