The conventional submarines are constrained to surface every 2-3 days to charge its batteries and thus becoming vulnerable to detection and lose their strength of being a stealthy platform. DRDO has designed an Air Independent System ( AIP) which will enable the conventional SM to stay submerged for 14 days. Thus making it equivalent to a Nuclear submarine in terms of dived endurance. L&T partnering with DRDO realised the first AIP successfully and proved its performance. L&T is selected as the OEM for the Energy Module. DRDO has selected AIP to be projected as their Tableau on the Republic Day parade today. A proud day for L&T, Indian industry and Atma Nirbharta.
