Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been launched in New Delhi today. The scheme will provide free health coverage of five lakh rupees to each beneficiary family per year. The Delhi government has also announced that it will provide an additional top-up of five lakh rupees under this scheme. Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will present on the occasion. During the event, they will distribute Ayushman Cards to the beneficiaries.
Last week, the National Health Authority signed an MoU with the Delhi government to implement this scheme. Our correspondent reports that through this scheme, the out-of-pocket expenditure has declined from 62 per cent in 2014 to 38 per cent this year.An MOU was signed between the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Government of Delhi for the rollout of Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. The Scheme is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, which was launched in 2021 to fill critical gaps in health infrastructure, surveillance and health research – spanning both the urban and rural areas.
