Mumbai: Reigning champions Otters ‘Rockets’ launched the defence of their title on a positive note, by winning both the home and away ties (3-1 & 3-2) against MG ‘Lollipops’ in a Section-A league match during the first week of the Billiards & Snooker of Maharashtra organised Otters-BSAM Mumbai Snooker League 2019. Otters earned a bonus point from the two successes and now have 5 points in the kitty.
Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana cueist Asutosh Padhye (+10) produced impressive, consistent performances to win all his four frames, which was instrumental in JVPG ‘Mafia’ recording twin victories, against Khar Gymkhana youngsters KG ‘Gully Boys’, by identical 3-1 margins in the home and away matches in Section-F. The doubles combo of Krishna Saraf and Rahil Patel played the supporting roles by winning the doubles frames in both the ties to seal their win.
JVPG ‘Tigers’ also made a roaring start as they defeated Matunga Gymkhana’s MG ‘Six Sigma’ by 3-1 scorelines in the home and away encounters in Section-F.
Both the JVPG teams now have 5 points each, including a bonus point for their winning efforts.
In Section-B matches, Chembur Gymkhana’s CG ‘Gladiators’ and Bombay Gymkhana’s BG ‘B’ also won both the home and away encounters against Radio ‘Tigers’ and MBPT Sports ‘B’ respectively.
