In Manipur, the number of dead bodies retrieved from the landslide spot in Noney district of Manipur has increased to 50 till last evening. Eighteen persons are injured in the incident and are hospitalized.
Intense search operations are going on to trace 11 missing persons. The incident took place in the intervening night of 29 and 30 of last month.
Among fifty dead bodies retrieved from the spot so far, twenty nine were the personnel of 107th Battalion of Territorial Army. Thirteen personnel of the same battalion were rescued alive and they are undergoing treatment. The search team have been working to retrieve the eleven missing persons which includes six labours who took part in the railways project in Noney district.The body identification has become increasingly difficult due to tissue deterioration. Around one thousand personnel have been participating in the search operation and they are using sophisticated equipments to locate missing bodies.
