Centre assures all possible help to Assam govt in fight against Encephalitis

The Centre has assured of all possible help and cooperation to Assam government in its fight against Japanese Encephalitis.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsha Vardhan talked to state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on the phone in this regard. Dr Sarma said the state government is taking all possible measures to tackle Encephalitis cases.

Our correspondent reports the Assam government cancelled leaves of doctors, para-medical staff and surveillance workers to deal with the outbreak of Encephalitis which has claimed 50 lives across the state since January.

Various awareness programmes are being organised to prevent the disease.
