Central Govt, ICMR scale up testing infrastructure for Covid-19: Ministry of Health

Ministry of Health has said that the Central Government and ICMR have scaled up the testing  infrastructure for COVID-19 in a calibrated manner.

Ministry of Health in a tweet said that India’s testing capacity has touched 15 lakh samples ensuring easily accessible COVID-19 tests by all.

It said, very high levels of testing lead to early identification, prompt isolation and effective treatment of COVID-19  cases.

This also leads to low Fatality Rate.

The Ministry said, India’s Positivity Rate is steadily maintained below 10 per cent.

It said, several States and Union Territories are exhibiting Positivity Rate higher than the national average indicating a need for aggressive and widespread testing.
