Campaigning gains momentum for remaining three phases of Jharkhand assembly elections

Campaigning gains momentum for the remaining three phases of assembly elections in Jharkhand. After completion of two phases of polling, all political parties are now focussing on the remaining 48 seats.

Senior BJP leaders and Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Smriti Irani will address several rallies in poll bound constituencies today. Rajnath Singh will address election rallies at Madhupur, Jharia and Birani, while Smriti Irani is scheduled to hold public meetings at Rajdhanwar, Petarwar, Burmu and Tatisilwai.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM), chief Babu Lal Marandi and All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) President Sudesh Mahto will address many political meetings. Besides Congress, leaders of RJD and left parties are also holding public meetings to attract voters.

Meanwhile, 64.84 percent voter turnout was recorded in the second phase of assembly elections held yesterday. Maximum turnout of 75.36 percent was recorded in Baharagora assembly seat followed by 70.37 percent in Ghatshila. The urban Jamshedpur West constituency witnessed the lowest turnout of 54.41 percent.

AIR correspondent reports that while addressing election rally at Rajdhanwar in Giridih district Senior BJP leader Raghubar Das said this election will ensure future and stability of Jharkhand. Senior Congress leader Shatrughan Sinha alleged in Tatisilwai that due to policies of BJP government people are forced to spend miserable life. 

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha chief Babu Lal Marandi prominently are raising issues of local policy, reservation in government jobs, improvement of condition of electricity. AJSU chief Sudesh Mahto said if voted to power his government will ensure respectful life to people of Jharkhand. RJD leader Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and AIMIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi also addressed rallies in support of their candidates.
