The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Election Commission’s proposal to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Election Commission of Maldives on cooperation in the field of electoral management and administration.
Briefing reporters about the decisions of the Cabinet, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said under the MoU, knowledge and experience in the field of organisational and technical development of electoral process will be exchanged, support given in exchanging information, institutional strengthening and capacity building, training of personnel, and holding regular consultations.
“The proposed MoU would promote bilateral cooperation, aimed at building technical assistance/capacity support for the Election Commission of Maldives, envisaging cooperation in the field of electoral management and administration,” she said.
