BJP Calls For 12 Hours Strike In West Bengal

Bharatiya Janata party, BJP has called a 12 hour strike in West Bengal today in protest of yesterday’s police action on people participating in a rally towards the state secretariat, Nabanna in Kolkata. BJP is demanding justice for the victim of the R G Kar Medical College incident and resignation of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Meanwhile, the government of West Bengal has informed that all transport services will run on the road including the privately operated buses. There will be more government buses on the road. The state transport Minister yesterday said in a press conference in Kolkata that if any taxi or private bus is damaged in the strike the state government will give the compensation. Our correspondent reports that the suburban train services are getting affected by the strike in Sealdah and other places in the state. However, government buses, app cabs and private cars and taxis are running normally in Kolkata and other places in the state.
