Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India is located on the Deccan Plateau of Peninsular India. With a modest elevation of 3000 feet, the city enjoys pleasant weather conditions except in April and May when it turns fairly hot. For the mega town, the Southwest Monsoon and Winters as well remain mild. The month of April is the hottest of the year, dominated by dry days interspersed by Pre- Monsoon showers on 5-7 days.
The city has been experiencing dry weather for almost 2 weeks. Prior to that, the city observed heavy showers on 6th and 9th April. It has already recorded 63mm of rainfall against a monthly normal of 41.8mm. The rains are generally in association with the seasonal trough across the central peninsula or the wind discontinuity. A cyclonic circulation is coming up over the tri-junction of Vidarbha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh. Also, a trough is extending from the center of circulation to Kerala across Andhra Pradesh and South Interior Karnataka. As its common feature, this trough is going to oscillate a bit expanding its area of operation. This situation is quite conducive to the escalation of Pre-Monsoon activity for Bengaluru in the last week of April. Showers are possibly going to be more intense in the second half of the week. With this spell, the monthly rainfall could possibly go up to double the normal. Weather conditions are going to be pleasant with cloudy sky, gentle breeze and intermittent rain/shower mostly towards evening and early night.
