Bangladesh: Police Got Ultimatum To Join Duty; Else Will Be Deemed Unwilling

Majority of police personnel are yet to join their duty after regime change in Bangladesh on 5th August. Resulting in deteriorating Law and order situation. Leaders and activists of the Awami League party, people of religious minorities and other vulnerable sections of society are facing brunt of the situation. Home affairs adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, M Sakhawat Hossain has asked police personnel to resume their duties and maintain public safety. In the meantime, several thousands people today brought out a protest rally and formed a human chain in Moulvibazar district of Sylhet division. They are protesting against attacks on local minority communities, including vandalism, looting, and torching of their houses, temples, and businesses.
