Bangladesh Home Ministry forms probe body to investigate death of undertrial writer under Digital Security Act

The Home Ministry of Bangladesh has formed a five-member probe committee to investigate the death of the undertrial writer Mushtaq Ahmed in Gazipur jail. Additional Secretary in the Security Services Division of the Ministry Tatun Kanti Shikder will be its convenor.

The Gazipur district administration has also formed a panel to probe the death of Mushtaq Ahmed. Responding to the journalists’ question about the death of Mushtaq Ahmed, during a press conference on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that nobody’s death was desirable at all but there is nothing to do if anyone dies being sick in jail.

On the issue of Digital Security Act (DSA), Prime Minister Hasina said that the government was under obligation to ensure digital security as it is creating a digital Bangladesh with ICT facilities at the grassroots level.
