The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) will launch its grand inaugural Onam celebrations on September 19th. .
Sravanam 2019 will be held at the BKS Diamond Jubilee hall in Segaya where Kerala Assembly speaker P Sreeramakrishnan will be the chief guest and former Kerala minister M A Baby will be the guest of honour. During the event, renowned Indian playback singers Hariharan and Madhu Balakrishnan will be presented with the Swaralaya Devarajan Award and the BKS Brahmanandan Puraskaram, respectively. The event will be followed by a grand musical show led by prominent South Indian singers Mr Balakrishnan, Naresh Iyer, Sithara Krishnakumar and K P Brahmanandan.
Soorya Fest, a dance and music extravaganza starring a number of South Indian artists including Shamna Kasim, Aattukal Balakrishnan, Najim Arshad, Siju Kumar, Malavika and Durga Viswanath, will be held on Friday. Former Indian minister Alphons Kannanthanam will be the chief guest of the evening and Indian screenwriter Soorya Krishnamoorthy will be the guest of honour. On the same day, the Indo-Bahrain Friendship award will be presented to Pico chairman and Miracle Graphics chief executive and founder Khalid Juman.
BKS held a soft inauguration earlier this month of Sravanam 2019 and has seen thousands of people pouring in for each event. Festivities are open to the public and celebrations are scheduled to continue until September 27, culminating in a grand Onam feast on October 4.
