Sabarmati to Dandi March launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav is now in Bharuch district. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma joined the Padyatris from Kareli village to Gajera village. Mr. Sangma along with Gujarat Minister of state for Education and women and Child Development Vibhavari Dave had walked for 18 kilometers along with Dandi Yatris.
Villagers of Piludra, Vedach and Gajera had welcomed the Dandi Yatris with flowers and music bands. Villagers also shouted slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jay- and Gandhiji Amar Raho. Speaking on this occasion, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had said that it was a unique experience to walk on the same path on which Mahatma Gandhi had walked 90 years ago. Mr. Sangma said that a celebration of 75 years of Indian Independence is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi Yatra in 1930 had created the nationwide consciousness among the people for the country’s freedom. Now this Dandhi Yatra is for the pride of India by remembering our freedom fighters. He said that the North East region remained undeveloped even after Independence. But Prime Minister Modi’s focus on this region has started new development in this region.
