India is currently under lockdown3 due to COVID-19 and the noise for economic stimulus was growing louder from all quarters . When the news of his address to the nation was given by the PMO speculation had become rife that PM Modi might announce an economic package. So, PM Narendra Modi in his third address to the Nation gave a clarion call for Atamnirbhar Bharat.
In his address PM spoke about the importance of being self reliant as a Nation and that should be the way forward for India in the post coronavirus era. Talking about turning crisis into oppurtunity he gave example of PPE Kits and N95 Masks,whose production rose to 2 lakh units per day from almost zero. He said that the definition of self reliance had changed in a globalized world and its different from being self centered. He said the world that trusts India , has a lot to contribute towards global development.
Further PM said that a self reliant India will stand on the five pillars which are
- Economy – which brings in quantum jump and not incremental change
- Infrastructure – that will herald a modern India
- System – Technology driven to fulfil dreams of 21st century
- Vibrant Demography – that will strengthen our capacity further
- Demand – optimum usage of supply chains
PM Narendra Modi announced a special economic package of Rs 20 Lakh Crore which is equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP for India to become Atamnirbhar. He said the package will provide a much needed boost towards achieving Atamnirbhar Bharat.
PM said that the package will also focus on land , labour , liquidity and laws. This package will cater to various sections including cottage industry, MSMEs , labourers , middle class , industries among others. The details of this economic package wil be spelt out by the Finance Minister in the coming days.
This package has not only brought huge cheer from all round but it has also silenced the opposition parties too . India Inc , CII and FICCI have all appreciated at the size of the package and its impetus based on Make In India . PM Modi in his address has called for people to own and use Swadeshi and also asked them to be vocal about it . In doing so he gave the example of Khadi and asked fellow citizens to make local , use local and be vocal to take the product Global . Local should be the new Global for the world post coronavirus where coronavirus may remain with us but our life will not remain restricted by it.
This huge announcement of an enormous sized economic package by PM MOdi has given new wings to the citizens of India to make a NEW India which is Atamnirbhar and it marches ahead in achieving its target of $5 Trillion economy faster .
